Just wanted to ask why the post counter is no longer working?

Yep, it's working.
If you post in S&S, it don't count.... otherwise, it does. 8-)

It seems to be working for me as well. Like Beacle333 said it doesn't do anything in the swappin and sellin section and it's not supposed to, but it should work elsewhere.

The unread post counter is gone for me... disappeared with the picture fix update.

Forum software was updated, and the plugins were disabled for a little while. Everything is back up and running.
