Everything isn't in great shape but once I get a chance to clean it up I think I will turn out alright, paid $100 for everything.

I bought a Lyman 61 pot like that with about 120 pounds of lead at a gun show for 30.00.

I cleaned it up and it works real good, gets hot fast.
The only thing i had to do was anchor the plug in down,it was loose.

I have a Lee pot and a RCBS large pot and still i find that this thing works.

What kind of molds did you get?

My buddy looked at them for me and said they were 452, 356, and some others. Bought them on an online auction so have not seen them in person, he said all the mold blocks were true and ouldnt see light. Worst case scenario I figure I will need to buy a new gun to shoot whatever the mold makes

That Lyman 61 is a good pot. It and the Saeco Model 24 were made by the same company IIRC was Ohio Thermal. If anything ever goes wrong there is a lot of information in the search section of this form for repair, parts and how to do it...electric or otherwise. Once you get it cleaned up, you can spray the blued parts and the base with Rustoleum Stove Black High Heat 1200 degrees, available from most major hardware outlets, Depot, Walmart etc. It will fill in a lot of any pitting and render the surface rust free for a very long time and it can be touched up easily. Same for the top of the pot if you wish as well as the long valve arm. If you want to effectively de-rust the mold blocks go with a product called Evaporust which does the job without disturbing the metal in any way. Overall you scored very well. LLS

Great score! I dream of such a find. All that for the price of one Lyman mold. Great job!

I was actually planning on using evapo rust on it, used it on a Lyman 452630 double cavity and 311 double cavity that I just picked up last week ($20 each!!!) Cleaned those molds up great. The 45 mold I cast 400 bullets and only 3 rejects from hitting other bullets once warmed up

Those old lyman pots are pretty resilient. Should clean up fine.

I picked up a pot just like that not too long ago. The only problem I had to repair was where the cord plugs into the pot. The insulator between the two post had deteriorated beyond repair and had to be replaced.

Took inventory of the molds today
Lyman molds
457122 HP- single cavity
358480 double cavity
452460-4 cavity
429421- double cavity
45-405 (might have missed a number there) double cavity

Lee
440 RB single cav
490 RB single cav
356-120 TC 6 cavity

Ideal
429421 2 cavity

Not bad considering the molds cost me $60 plus auction fees and sales tax!

Sounds like you done good.
I like that part about having to buy a new gun to shoot them out of.

Good luck

I believe that model of Lyman pot was made by Saeco.

Great pot. A friend gave me one about 15 years ago. It still works great. Nice find.

Furnace cleaned up great, need to figure out how to adjust the flow though. Cast with a few molds, only one to give me a problem is the Lee 6 cavity. Everything cleaned up great with a little evapo rust. Put the new style spruce lever on the Lee 6 cavity and it works fantastic, plan to buy a few more like it for when my other Lee sprue levers break
