Finishing melting the last of the almost 900 lbs of lead that I had picked up since last year.
This is the waste from the last 450lbs or so.

Most of my equipment set up.

Last 160 bars, about 178lbs by my estimate.

Guess over 600lbs total in ingots, should last me several years at the rate I shoot--have to lower that estimate if the Mrs. keeps shooting at her current rate.

Hi Novalty,

Let's have a contest. I'll bet I can throw that white bucket at least as far as you can. :-)

Take care, Tom

No doubt. The stock pot full of clips and dross weighs quite a bit too--probably 60lbs or so. Right now my body doesn't want to do any more lifting.

Are the half cylinder, ingot molds commercial or home made? I have a linotype ingot of that configuration and thought it was just a section of a 25 pound pig. Now, I am not so sure of that.

That was cast with the old cast iron cornbread pan, seen on the left in the second picture down. Those half-cylinder ingots weigh in around 1.5lbs each.

Thanks Tom. The set up works pretty good for the volume that I do. Have put all of the lead I have melted through it, and my father-in-law put about 300lbs through it last year. Didn't really need to run it on a warm day like today, but wanted to get my garage cleaned up--plus I can leave my equipment with my father-in-law, so he can melt down the 500 or 600lbs he has in COWW's. My RCBS Pro-melt will have plenty to work with now.

What size Dutch oven are you using in the pic?

Novalty:

Nice morning's work ! :)

I have three of those same cornbread muffin pans. They do make great 1.5 pound ingots !

Fatelvis, the dutch oven is a 12" one from Harbor Freight. Think it was $30.

That amount would just about make it into next year for me......Between boolits and shot, I go thru tons.....literally.

Thanks GLL, if I could find another cornbread pan like this one at a reasonable price I would buy it--cause this one works great and the ingots fit in my Pro-melt well.

Just a suggestion - if the dross is heavy, then there a lot of lead left in it. Toss it in a pot and put heat to it, flux it and see how much lead you salvage from it...
I have done this with dross and got a significant amount of lead as a result.

Not a lot of dross actually, mostly just the clips. The stock pot that I grabbed off of the recycling bin, cause the prior owner scorched the bottom, works well.
