Wondering if anyone uses this gas checked boolit in a 30-30 for deer? I have used the 170 grain version and it is a accurate with 22 grains but haven't tried the 150 grain version and can't find any load data. I will be shooting a 1973 vintage Winchester 94. Any help with load data or experience RS with this boolit appreciated. Thanks, Craig

I use this in my Marlin 336. Old with Ballard rifling. 32 gr IMR4064 brings deer down DRT.

Hodgdon ( http://hodgdon.com/ ) has data for a 160 grain cast bullet in 30/30. Their maximum load of H4198 is considerably less than your load with the 170 grain cast bullet. However, I don't think it is a pressure or safety issue, but is probably related to accuracy.

My question to you is: why? You already have an accurate load with the 170 grain version of this bullet. You're not going to gain anything by switching to the lighter bullet.
