I just cast my first boolets. 185gr .312 for my 30-40 Krag, they dropped from the Lee mold at .311 which should be just fine. My question is since I don't need to size them how do I secure the gas check? Is finger pressure enough to secure it? I have a Lee sizer but don't see how you can use it to crimp the gas check without sizing it. Thanks, Don

I use a little drop of super glue on the check and press the boolit onto them.

Don, I'll assume your Lee sizer is the .308-.309 size. Hone out the sizer die to .311 and this will crimp the check on without touching the boolit. See here:

go to "research and Data"--hone a size die.

Or your could order a Lee sizer at .311 if you'd rather not touch your present sizer.

If you'd like to try some before messing with your sizer, send me a PM. I have some of those boolits all sized, checked and lubed at .311...Ray
