I'am planning to load the RCBS 180gr. SP boolet in my 30-30. Question about the tip its kinda pointed with a 1/8" flat at the tip would that be a little risky in the tubular mag. If so its no real hardship as I usally single load cast. Thanks Frank C.

You could always "bump" a little more flat on the point during sizing. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance when RCBS makes the 30-150-FN and the 30-180-FN which are designed for tube mags and bot shoot well in my .30/30 M94s. But, the 30-180-SP does shoot well in a M788 when I tried it./beagle

There's an on going debate about using the spitzer shaped boolits in tube magazines. I have used this boolit in the .30-30; but I was shooting it in a 788 Remington. I didn't try it in the Marlin or the Savage. Seemed like Re-7 worked pretty well in the 788.

Beagle, I hear you mate, I have the mold and a whole cigar box of the boolets. I'll just single load or one and one. My favorite lead slinger is a pre 64 94 32 special it has that used patina and a nice Redfield receiver sight, perfect clean sharp bore. Frank C.

Wmitty, I will have to experiment with the seating depth in the 94 winny I'am sure your 788 has much more leaway. seeing as I'll be single feeding length won't be as critical and that tapered nose can enter the bore. Frank C.

I've never had a problem. I use the 150 SP in mine all the time.
Shoots very good.
I'd say its safer than a RN and RN are extremely popular in 30-30.

I do bump mine a little flatter for hunting just to get more meplat.
