I saw someone's idea to hang a small pair of vice grips on the pot lever to stop the Lee drip by adding pressure to the stopper. I didn't want to use my vice grips, so I replaced the wooden handle with a 1/2 lb muffin ingot, and I haven't had any drips, yet. I don't care if the muffin gets warm, cause I'm wearing gloves...

Mine is weighted as well. Didn't take as much as yours did.

I put an 8oz steel weight on the top of the pin (it is a newer model where the top is threaded). Solved any dripping problems.

I just plugged the hole and use a ladle.

I solved mine by buying an RCBS Pro Melt - a class act!

I also put a small ingot on my handle, work's like a charm!

Your suppose to do the first smelt using a pot on some kinda heat source to keep your pouring/working pot clean.

And now it will continue to drip for the rest of its life. Never ever ever use a Lee pot for cleaning up of WW or other dirty lead. All the garbage that's in it will get in the spout and cause it to drip.

I tired the weight on the handle, weight on the rod and polishing the rod. What worked the best? Making sure any lead I put in the pot was clean. I went back and cleaned up any lead that I didn't do a thorough job on. Since then, no drips.

I found it's pretty easy and dirt cheap to rebuild these. Lee sells all the parts you need. I swapped out the pot on mine and couldn't believe how much build up I had from over the years.

You are 100% correct with your observations ... Only clean lead in my pots. A little weight has been added to the handle for a quick return. Over 500 lbs. through these pots with no drips.
