Does Triple 7 have a specific shelf life or something like that?
I was in the local Wally world today and they had some Triple 7 on sale along with other similar BP substitutes . The 777 was $15 a lb and last time I bought some over a year ago it was about $20 or more.
Was picking up a H&R 1871 in 45-70 so thought I'd get some to try.
Doesn't it store about like smokeless powders?
Oh, and Federal 22's were $9.88 a week ago and now they are $11.80.
Mini 14 went from under $500 to $604.
Guess I'll have to look for bargains at gunshow tomorrow.
Sure weren't at Walmart!

Probably getting it out of inventory for tax purposes. Least the local wally-world does every year when primitive season is ended.

I do the Wallmart clearance deal too. I don't even favor Pyrodex, but if ya can pick up a dozen pounds of RS for $8.25 each.....

I have a can of 777 I bought four years ago..don't shoot much of the stuff but last time out it chronoed the same same as the the first time I used it. This was in an inline with cast conicles.

I buy anything that will go bang and stash it if the price is right. Someday it might be all you have for loading. J

I thought it was just another cool and dry powder.
Maybe I'll get a chance to try it out in something this spring.
They sure weren't lowering prices on other things though.
Guess the recession is hard and real.
Thanks aagin for the information.

Shelf items are not stored at Wally World, they are put on sale and sold to make room for fishing equipment. If they sell guns, they are kept in the case and prices rise even if they were from a cheaper shipment. Same for scopes and ammo that is kept in a case. Old stock prices are raised along with the cost of new shipments. Like buying gas that is raised in price while still in the underground tanks before the truck comes with a new load.
Big stores do not have the ethics of the little gunshops that leave the price tags on what is on the shelf. Go to Gander Mountain and you might find 10 stickers on top of each other.

I did the walmart thing this morning as well. My favorite fodder for my 39 marlin is the blue bow federal 510. Have bought thousands of these. Used to be .97 cents a box, then 1.07 a box, and now they want 1.27. went up .20 cents a box! They aint never offered to sell these by the brick, always by the 50 box, dont know why! Also, i shoot alot of the cci cb shorts (no noise) and they went from 6.87 to 8.12!! All there muzzleloader stuff is on clearance as well.
