New Lee 95 gr 9mm

Just wondering if anyone has the newest 95 Gr. Lee 9mm/.380
This looks a lot like the Ranch Dog?
I was thinking of getting the 6 banger and trying it.

I have been using this boolit since the beginning of the year. It shoots and feeds well in my pt92.
I got it in a 6 cavity and it drops at .358 for me so I can use it either in 9mm or 38.
It is a short boolit and the oal in 9mm is very short(1.010) but it still feeds fine.
It is a copy of the ranch dog.

It's my understanding that it's the updated Ranch Dog design with the secant ogive. I have the original design with the tangent ogive and I have to seat the bullet deep for my daughter's .380 bodyguard, the new design alleviates that problem. I cast more of this bullet than all others combined. It works great in .380, 9mm, 38 special and 357 mag, I love this boolit.

Any idea what velocities you are getting?
Might be fun to push this one past 1000 or 1200 fps ?

I size this boolit to .358" and it chambers in all of my guns so there's no reason to size any smaller.
In the .380 my favorites are 3.0 grains of Unique, 3.0 grains of HP-38, and 4.0 grains of Power Pistol.

In 9mm I use 5.0 grains of Power Pistol, 5.0 grains of Unique, and my favorite is 4.5 grains of HP-38. I've pushed it with 6.9 grains of Power Pistol with no leading in my Glock 26, it should of been moving 1300fps+.

In .38 special I use the same 4.5 grains of HP-38 as in the 9mm.

It's shoots great and very versatile. Picked it up on a whim for a friends .380. Works great in my 9s as well.

I don't have access to a chrono at the moment but according to the ranch dog website load data, I am running them somewhere just over 1100fps.

I use the RD version sized 358 in several 380's and it works great.
Never tried it in 9mm's yet.

I have one and its a darn fine boolit! Currently I shoot and carry it loaded with 3.4 grains Hodgdon Titewad, Federal primer, and 1.030 OAL for ~1030 measured fps out of my Kel-Tec PF9. Accuracy and function is superb and it feels like shooting a .380. I size 'em to .357 because my mold drops them fat and dip lube with LLA and mineral spirits.

Here is a picture. They have a double coat of LLA on them. That's why the brown coloring.

You can see the two different ogives on my bullets and Tazman's. Mine are fatter, but I've encountered problems with the nose contacting the rifling in some .380 handguns. This requires me to seat the bullets deeper and I have keep the loads mild to prevent overpressure in those weapons. I wish that I had the new design so that I could just load the same for all guns. I've been wanting to experiment and see how fast I could push them in my 357 magnum before I get any leading. So today I loaded 6 each of 5 different loads using Power Pistol, I started at 9.0 grains and worked up to 11.0 grains in .5 grain increments. According to the Lyman 4th edition cast bullet handbook, my top load with 11.0 grains of PP should top 1500 fps from my S&W model 19 with a 4" barrel. Maybe this weekend I can get out and give them a try.

My 6 banger Lee came in today and I could hardly wait to break it in. I cast up about 200 using my super secret alloy. I just took a batch out of the oven that I applied the Powder Coating to. I can hardly wait!
I did find this mold is tough to cast with. I found the way to get the best results was the Slop method. (Not stopping between cavities. Just keep the lead flowing continuously til they all fill up.)
I did get some really pretty ones and they all sized with just very slight contact.

These should be interesting
I had no load data so I just winged it... eyeballed the bullet seat depth and it came out real close to 1.025 and I left it there.
(interesting because I like to seat my pointy nose 9mm to 1.125)
warm loading of Power Pistol and a magnum primer.
The PC was a bit sloppy but I don't think it will matter much...
I cycled a dozen thru my Beretta without any feed issues.
I will see how they hold up against an MSC catalog

Keep posting the results. This is interesting.
The Lyman 4th cast bullet handbook has load data for the Lee 102gr boolit. That data should work well since the weight is very close and for a slightly heavier boolit.

I've had the 2cav for a while and had way more problems with this one than the other three molds I have. Cast Hot and fast. I've pc'd many of mine and found to shoot successfully in my glock and Walther, I had to seat deep too. 1.02-1.025. Used CFE Pistol mainly at 5.8gr. Fun load.

The different ogive explains why the Lee is a little lighter than the RD design.

In case anyone is wondering this bullet will also work in .357sig.

I gave a my buddy about 20 of the ones I loaded to test. He used his Sig P6 (not the best choice) he sent me a text that the brass seemed real slow to eject. I think the round may not have enough weight to make the proper recoil on that particular gun. I will need to test in my Beretta

Doc, I don't have a Springfield, but it feeds flawlessly in my Glock 26 and my Keltec PF9. Even if for some reason it doesn't feed properly in your XD9, it's also a great lead saver if you load any .380's or 38 special/.357 mag.

cool, I will give it a go... I dont reload for my 380 yet but I have everything for it already, I was just looking for a light boolit for the 9 and the 380... Sounds like this is the one

My LCP is the reason I bought this mold. I've shot close to 3,000 rounds through it with this bullet and every single round has fed and functioned perfectly.

I use it in my Taurus TCP with good results. Loaded to under Ranch Dog's max at 3.4 gr. BE, rather painful on the palm.
Will try 2.8–3 gr. BE. Bullet burns perfect little circles in the paper.
