I love this site! Check this out A few minutes ago I posted a want add for a Forster 243 inside neck reamer. Not a real common tool. Ten minutes after I posted the want add someone posted a for sale add for guess what, a Forster 243 inside neck reamer. What are the chances?
I love this place.

Do they sell lottery tickets in Montana? You're one lucky man, Dan. Some folks call it karma, I call it living well. Congrats!

Greetings
I used to make my own .243 brass from .308. If you do not neck ream you can have serious problems. Mine .243 reamer sits 5500 miles away in ILLinois. Still using that same batch of brass for over 30 years now. But I have added some real .243 brass for "special moments".

Usually if I have a neck thickness problem I turn the outside of the neck. The problem I am having and reason I need an inside neck reamer is that in forming cases for a 6mmx284 I am getting a doughnut at the neck shoulder junction inside the neck. It is enough that that point of the neck is a tight fit if I insert a bullet into a fired case neck. That tight spot is not expanding enough on firing to let the bullet go free so is causing pressure issues before reaching the velocity I should be getting. My theory anyway.
Anyway that tight spot needs cleaned up and inside reaming is the only way. I thought I had a 243 reamer but couldn't find one so posted the want add.
When I first saw the sale add I thought it was in response to my want add but not so it was a separate sale add. Just one of those freaky timing things that you cant explain.
9w1911 Your welcome!

Glad you found what you were looking for!

I had to look up the stats for the 6-284. I know my 6.5-284 is a screamer, the 6mm version takes it to a whole new level! Makes my 6br look anemic.

Bullshop, to really derail this thread, I've often contemplated a 6mm-06. In your opinion, other than a shorter action would there be much difference from your 6mmx284? Regards, Woody

I have a 6mm/06 as well. Both have the same barrel length but the 6mm/06 is faster.
There are two reasons I believe why the 6mm/06 is faster. Number one reason is the 6mm/06 is a 1/12" twist and the 6mmx284 is a 1/7" twist. Also my 6x284 has 130 round count and the throat is short where my 6x06 has unkown round count but known to be high and the throat wear is extensive so bullets are seated way out to get close to the lands.
The 6x06 is limited in bullet weight where the faster twist 6x284 will shoot the very long VLD bullets of over 100gn where 90gn is about tops for the 6x06.
I have shot the 6x06 with 100gn flat base bullets with good accuracy on warm days but when the temp drops to near freezing so goes any accuracy.
I should emphasize here that I am only referring to my rifles compared to each other and other rifles may be a completely different story.
