Recently purchased a Lyman .454 sizer die from Midway. Have some issues with it. It sizes the bullets .455 and that is what the inside diameter of the die is. Having problems with lube comming out the top and bottom of the die I measured the diameter of the plunger and it measures .4525. It rattles around inside the die. Has any else experienced a similar problem or did I get one that slipped thru quality control.

Your center rod (H) only has .75 thousants of clearance all-around, that's pretty tight.

Back off on the pressure you are putting on the lubracator handle until it stops seeping through. And you really don't need to fill each bullet lube groove 100% full either.

if it sized .455 I'd call Midway and tell them.

I'd just get another from them they should replace it no problem.

.0025 difference? not tight if you ask me.

..............The ejector pin should be a bit less then a thousandth undersize, ideally. Most dies will leak some, if left under pressure or if it's hot. Usually comes from the top lube holes closest to the lead in chamfer of the die body. Regardless, it's not right and needs to go back, or go to Lyman.
