I have seen threads where people are gas checking these boolets if they are the bevel based style. I just got a new 6 banger this weekend off E-Bay for 35$ shipped. Casts great boolets right out of the box.How do you get the gas check on? I use Hornady gc s maybe that's the prob? I couldn't make it work. Shoot Straight, T-Bird

10-4. Maybe we both can be enlightened. Mine shot great as well from my S+W 686. They were over 8gr AA#5 for 1150ish fps. I want to run these in my new Miroku 1873 (if I ever get it ). Shoot straight T-Bird

If I am going to shoot them at velocities that need a gas check I paper patch them. Someone one the board used to make gas checks for plain based boolits.

I have done this successfully using Freechex Aluminum GCs... The trick is not to fully form the GC "cup" ...you then carefully center on the sizing die to size & seat. Not especially difficult. It will not work with factory made GCs.

I have a Pat Marlin plain base gas check maker for 38/357. It works very well on any and all plain base bullets I have cast, whether they are bevel base or not.

I'll 2nd that ^^ I've been using Pats 35 PB on most of my boolits. The Lee 158RF shoots extremely well in my handguns and rifles with a gas check. The 358477 seems to perform flawless with a good (AL) check applied @ magnum speeds with a healthy dose of 296.
