View Full Version : Marlin 336 in 7-30

Saw an interesting 336 yesterday in the used gun rack @ Cabelas. I'll generally pick up any 336 for a closer look but this one caught my eye. It's a stainless gun and has a heavy custom barrel marked "7-30". Appeared to be nicely done, have no more than a passing interest in that cartridge or it would have followed me home.

I have a 94 win 7-30 waters and it has taken several mule deer. Aside from being difficult to find flat nose 7mm jword bullets, this caliber rocks in a lever action rifle. 120 gr sierras at 2700 fps, 139 gr hornadys (if you can find them) at 2550 fps. Mr Waters had a great idea. Too bad it didn't catch on.

Sure hope it follows the right person home. A little rich for my blood but it would certainly be worth it for someone looking for a gun like that.
