Looking for advice on mass and diameter to start off a subsonic load for a hp carbine (will end up suppressed in a few more months)

Slug your bore then go from there.

My 995 likes .358 dia MP HP's (@ 130 grains) that are powder coated. Sized B4 and after coating. Shot over 4.2 grains of HP-38 they hit a 6" diameter gong at 100 yards every shot.

Cool, thanks. What vel do you get with that if you know?

sub-sonic is velocity nothing more/less.
the hi-point probably won't reliably work at the lower velocity's without a heavier boolit being used to help work the bolt.
anyway .358 will do just fine in the rifle.
I have one and but use some fairly light standard type loads. [3.0 grs red-dot and 3.7 grs of win 231 using 125-130 gr boolits]
I could probably lower the loads some, the rifle is just starting to get inconsistent with where it tosses cases now.
I don't know about going sub-sonic

I know what it means. Was just asking what the load listed out deals in terms of vel so I know what to expect when I start testing suppressors

I get an average of 1150 fps with 4.2 grn, it will cycle at 3.5 which is about 850 fps if I remember correctly. At 3.2 it only throws empties about a foot.
