Bought a Rossi 92 in .45 Colt a month or so ago. Gotta sent it in for a new barrel. With the front sight all but out of the dovetail, the rifle still shoots 3" right at 25 yards. Not sure I expect Braztech to make it right based on what I've heard, but you gotta try just in case I guess. Anybody know where I can buy an octagonal barrel with a .451" groove diameter? Pilgrim

Pilgrim,
Green mountain actually.

My GF w/ the old Savage 340D and her 145# shot at 40 yd w/a Federal 55gr Factory load. hy-shock? Anyway even that was a through and through double lung, pretty much DRT. I shot my second at just 7yd ,he just walked up on us while I was taking that picture . Just like hunting ,do 2 stands see nothing then shoot 4 w/in just a couple of hours.

The Colt load clocks along at 1050 or so out of a 7 1/2'' RBH. I'm guessing at 1350 out of the 16'' carbine.

The final tally 500# on the hoof so about 200# in the freezer .
$300x2 hunts $100 for feeder corn (we didn't shoot over) $250 for proccessing (skin, bone and freeze .55/lb hoof weight) and of course a suggested gratuity.
48 hr ,6 meals, nice cabins ala bunk house, great crew that's all for finding bad hits (we did have 1).
Overall we could have gone to the stock yards cheaper but would've missed the ''Buck fever'' so ,yeah it was worth $5/lb and to take 3 game critters w/cast loads from the ''ownself'' reloading co.

I think if I do this again I might stoke up the ol'Colts w/BP from'ownself industries' or try the sitting hunt w/a Frontier or Hawken.

How did that boar smell? If he was stinky he may not taste so good.

Good job, nice having processing facility and cold storage on site.
See any cool exotics?

Red Deer/stag,fallow deer ,one of the boks but I don't remember which 1,watutsi and the $8000 don't screw up front and center.

There was some smell but no more or less than the smaller hogs the meat is deffinatly (not having cooked any yet) wild. I don't expect it to be any more ''wild'' range cows vs feed lot cows.

I've made some other connections in east and central Tx so I hope a few more and maybe some Arkie pigs this fall.

I hadn't thought about the NCBS except to note that I have 3 moulds waiting for me to try them out and nothing loaded for anything but the Colts. I will however ad that to the gitter did list.

I got them all cut and put away today . 40 lbs of hams 60 lbs of ground for sausage and just plain. 225lbs and it all tastes fine ,took a little tweeking to get the country sausage right.

There are hogs around here farmers have been reporting and when we go out to take care of their pest problem, they seem to have trouble showing up. So frustrating.

Congrats on the nice hog.

Just for those that haven't been hoggin' here's for legs and shoulders from a 60 lb and 135 lb hog.

104241

They are also pretty tough animals as this was stuck in the shoulder/rib junction of the 60 pounder, which just confuses the hell out of me over all . 300 BO maybe? It was a 30cal BTFMJ .

Maybe just more proof a big slow cast boolit is supirior to the high speed low drag jacketed novlety bullet...... [smilie=w:

I wonder if that bullet may have been a result of a pass thru?

Funny to see this as I am loading blue dot and unique in 45 Colt with same Lee boolit for a Rossi '92. I was worried that I needed more power than 9gr Unique (hence some blue dot) but i guess you proved that is a nonissue.

That load clocks 1050 in an RBH 7.5 '' and grouped well so it just seemed right .

FWIW the tweeked Darrs lube works well w/both the 452-255 RNFP and the 452-252.

Possible .
Its always a shock to find something in your game you didn't put there.
There was this goose about 3 yr into the manditory non-toxic laws that I took home that had 2 pieces of copper plated 00B in it.

I've never seen an actual meat impact w/an fmj in wet/dry and water bottles they generaly fish hook it seemed odd that this was flat but if it was a 2nd impact it makes perfect sense .
