There are two books by Tom McKenney about Jack Hinson.
1) Battlefield Sniper: Over 100 Civil War Kills
2) Jack Hinson’s One-Man War: A Civil War Sniper
Different publishing conpanies. Seemed to be put out the same year.
I have read the second one. It was very good.
Has anyone read the first one????
Anyone know if they are the same book, just with different titles????

I too have the One Man War and not the other one. But, by all accounts/reviews is seems as if they may be the same book

Never heard of the author or the books; but if they were published in different countries, it is very possible they are the same book.

Two cases that I can think of like that were Clive Cussler's Mediterranean Caper/ I think Mayday. I bought the second one in a used book store in Brisbane, not realizing I had read it under the other title until we were a few days towards Hawaii. The other is the first Harry Potter book.

I have read" One Mans War",The rifle is interesting full stocked and heavy. There was nothing in the book about the missile he used,Ball or Conical.Whatever it must have been scary on those Boats to hear the bullet land before the bang and see the smoke rise at a distance from the river bank.It was quite a feat to pick out a target at those distances and make a strike.

in the book the projectile is described as being .50cal, hollow based conical...a 50cal minnie

I read the One Man's War and thought it was an ordinary book. Too much license taken in my opinion, though I understand why the author did it. Still it bugged me reading details that were obviously made up.

Thanks Dryball,Its a couple of years since I read it,I must have passed over that detail. It makes sense that a conical was used at the distances he was shooting.I must get a Minnie mould for this 50 cal rifle 1in 26" twist.http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s452/livebattery/P1010011.jpg (http://s1052.photobucket.com/user/livebattery/media/P1010011.jpg.html)
