They start biting in Jan here in TN. The bite is still on and will last another week or so. Thursday, I caught over 50 rainbows and browns in the Little Red River in AR.

I know one retired fisherman who brags about catching Crappie for at least 300 days per year in just one lake, Percy Priest. He has the pictures and frozen filets to back it up.

Still ice on a lot of the lakes here, northern MN is worse with almost total ice cover.

They bite all year round if you know where to find them. I catch them thru the ice regularly. Once the water temp starts getting near 50 they get the itch to spawn. I think they are going to be a little later this year due to the colder winter and cool spring.

I picked up a few a couple of weeks ago here in SW Oregon.
Still pre-spawn here.
I`m hoping for the bite to pick up soon .....dale

Hitting well around here in the bay area.

The spawn is pretty well over around here and they have moved back to deeper water. It lasted longer this year because we had a few cold fronts move in that slowed them down. But we can catch crappie year round, you just have to look for them.

Some of the best eating there is!

When the Redbuds are budding and the Dogwoods bloom the crappie are biting in the stickups, and white bass are running in the tail waters below the impoundment dams of the rivers.

That's in southern Indiana and across the Ohio in Kentucky.
