Hello to all! Today I did the slug to the barrel and the cylinder of my new Vaquero 45 LC.
I thought that the diameter was .454.
But no! the barrel measures exactly 451 and all the chambers of the cylinder measured 451.5.
I shot a little bit with this weekand Vaquero,I am very satisfied of its accuracy, 25, 10 yards with no problems.
I uploaded Lee 452-230 TC with 7.8 grains of N 320,its speed is 890 fps.
I shot a little, only 200 rounds, and the barrel was clean, no splices.

Yes, I have been using the Lee 452-255RF for several years. This mold has proven easy to use. Boolits come out of the mold at .452 weighing 258 grains and work well in the .4515 grooves of this barrel (Uberti). My usual load for .45 Colt is 8 grains of Unique.

Beautiful handgun sir. Gotta love them....
Where are you located in Italy sir? The company I work for is based in Lonigo, near to Verona.
I haven't been over to visit the mother company in a few years. That area in May was absolutely beautiful. I would drink coffee in front of my hotel and watch pheasants in the fields next door.

Yes! With a maximum load of VV Tin Star, mine will put 5 shots in one ragged hole at 25 yards from my 5.5" Bisley Blackhawk.

If I was on a budget and had to only have one .45 mold, I think I could get by just fine with the 452-255-rf.

Beppe,
Very cool. Small world huh?
It looks like I might be traveling to Lonigo this year to visit the home plant. It has been too long since I have been over there!

If I had one of the New Vaquero pistols, which is built on the medium frame, I would use this same boolit. These guns are well made and very capable when loaded into the "tier 2" range, which is quite like saying it is .45 Colt +P with a pressure ceiling of 23,000psi.

My Ruger .45 Colt, a Bisley Brackhawk of early 80's vintage, has a barrel that slugs a bit over .451, and cylinder mouths a bit over .454.
It was worse than that... it had a barrel constriction at the thread shank that went closer to .450 than .451 (I took the plunge and fire-lapped it out).
Funny thing though, it's always shot very satisfying (warm-fuzzy feeling) groups... but it would foul the bore with lead after 50 or so rounds.
I still haven't got the right ammunition combination to make it a 100% lead-foul-free shooter yet... but I'm close.

I'd like to buy a ruger caliber 475 Linebaugh, but Italy does not import any.

...the barrel measures exactly 451 and all the chambers of the cylinder measured 451.5...

Ahh the marvels of modern manufacturing. If only we still had the level of craftsmanship that used to go into the trigger and the finish...
