WM has em. Lots and lots of em. $23.97 for a 550 count brick. I guess that's as cheap as they'll ever be, but they're back on the shelf. They aren't going fast, either. I guess everybody already has all their wife will let em buy.

That's good to hear. Now let's not have another incident that causes the panic to start up again.

I just buy em when I need some. I got mebbe 5-600 around here somewhere. I'm just glad to see they are where they are supposed to be..... waiting for me at WM. 8-) I don't shoot em a lot, but I do like to know they are still sold.

I'm not going to stock up. I'd rather stock up on Alliant products if they ever come back. I got mebbe 1/2# of Unique left and I'm interviewing each armadillo and raccoon as to their best qualifications for candidates to warrant the use of 6 or 7 grains of it before I shoot! ;-)

22lr? What's that? I picked a Model 31 no dash to replace 22lr in revolvers...forever.

Funny, but some of the WM's around here stock Alliant powders, and I still have not seen any 22lr in over two years........

To bad the WM in my end of ILL I NOISE does not sell firearms or ammo.

The last time Cabelas in Hammond had 22s, a brick of some unknown brand was $99.95.

Some day.

I'd love to see some in stock down here. I think if it did show up, it'd be snatched up and listed on Gunbroker and Facebook groups for $100/brick as soon as it hit the shelf.

I used to shoot hundreds of rounds of .22lr every week between match practice and training drills in guns similar to my carry/duty guns. I wish I could get back to at least some part of that. I've hardly fired a round of .22lr outside of matches for over a year now.

Man, I wish mine stocked any kind of powder! They never have sold more than factory ammo. My LGS is a little hardware store that has an old dark dusty "gun corner" in the back of it, and he sells powder and primers (or used to, before this shortage) and has some racks of guns. Other than that, it's a 65 mile drive (and a crapshoot as to what is in stock) to the nearest BassPro to buy powder.

You know I keep maybe 400 to 500 around. I got a box that ha a price tag of $9.98. I don't know how old they are as I never shoot 22's.
So the shortage just doesn't bother me. Now the powder shortage of 2008 took me by surprise. I learned my lesson.

Still pretty rare around here. Got a 525 rd. bulk box of Federals for 24.99 on sale at Gander Mt. a couple of weeks ago..Limited to one box per customer and it was sold out in 2 hours. Cabela's had CCI 100 packs for 11.99.

I've been using CCI Mini-Mag exclusively for about thirty years.
I have one old box that held a hundred, and the (faded) price tag says $3.17.

The Friends of the NRA raffled off 50,000 rounds yesterday evening, I just hope the lucky winner does not put it up for sale at 50 bucks a brick. lol The raffle tickets were 100 bucks, but they only sold 150, so the odds were pretty good. They also gave away 10 guns, but apparently like usual I didn't win nuthin. lol

Hi...

I have been seeing a small improvement here in south central Pa in .22lr availability.
One of the LGS has had a fairly steady supply of 50rd .22lr at more or less reasonable prices for a month or so. Also starting to see some .22Mag at the same shop.
What I can't find is any Alliant handgun powders.
Primers are back in good supply at most shops.

The above mentioned shop (Trop) in Elizabethtown,Pa also is starting to get new brass on the shelves...not large numbers or all calibers, but it is showing up.
What they do have is once-fired brass from their indoor range. Yesterday they were offering 500rd bags of .45ACP(mixed primer size) and .40S&W for $49.95. They also had 1000rd bags of 9mm brass for $29.95...I didn't really need another 1K, but couldn't see a reason to pass it up at that price.
I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but a cursory inspection looks like mostly Blazer brass. I'll run it through the tumbler and clean it up and then we'll see what we have.

It wasn't a panic to begin with. Gasoline isn't going to be any cheaper either. Just saying.

At the gunshow this weekend, ome vendor had some old winchesters he wanted 100 bucks a brick, the other vendors were talking about it, and quite a few people would start laughing when they walked by his table. There was a couple that had bricks at fifty, but it didn't look like they sold any. One guy has some shorts in 50 round boxes for 5 bucks a pop, and did sell his, or at least most of them.

I bought an Astra Cub over 50 years ago and am still looking for a brand of 22 SHORT that will fire off every round in a box.

If the shorts are showing up surely there is a ray of sunshine coming soon.

Bad Water Bill your Astra Cub isn't reliable with any maker's 22 shorts - it may not be the ammo but the gun.

just saying that would be my way of thinking.

Bad Water Bill

I MIGHT think that also IF I had not already owned 3 more Astra Cubs that had the same problem.

Have you tried european ammo like GECO?

I noticed Midway had some lead nosed Aguila at $40 plus shipping on the 23rd come in. Inlike previous alerts, it hung around a few days. So some hope.

My local BiMart (poor man's Wally world) has increased primer limits to 500 at a time from 200. No powder still though. Bricks of .22LR sell out in an hour when they get them in -- I work so I never see them. Cheaper to shoot my .38spl target rounds then .22 at the prices it is going for.

When I find powder around town, it is $30 a pound.

Sorry but I have never heard of it.

Google could not find anyone selling Geco 22 short rimfire ammo either.

I stopped by the local WM yesterday morning.
They had a few 100 rnd boxes of CCI Mini Mag HPs for $7.50.
For that price, I left them for people that needed them more than I.....dale

Sorry but I have never heard of it.

Google could not find anyone selling Geco 22 short rimfire ammo either.

The thing is there seems to be a tolerance variation between European 22 rimfire standards and
American Standards and Ammo made over there seems to work better in guns built over there

GECO is Swiss/German, http://geco-munition.de/en/products/rimfire-cartridges.html
- and it looks like they only sell 22LR now...

Eley- British, You'll want the High Velocity

Fiocchi - Italy, I'm not sure if they make 22 short
look for those.

A week or so back, NVCurmudgeon and I visited a Reno store that has a reputation , shall we say, for high prices.

Trouble is, high-priced or not, they usually actually HAVE the stuff we're looking for.... IN STOCK.

Anyway, on this particular day, they had CCI Mini-Mag .22 Long Rifle ammo in 100-round boxes. Are you ready?

TWENTY DOLLARS per 100, which by even MY limited math skills computes to twenty cents per round.

.....and people wonder why we handload!

A case a week during warmer months. It's a brick every time I shoot. If I take the stepdaughter there is another brick. We've been known to go everyday of the week when the weather is nice. You do the math ;)
