Durn,

I was hoping you could give me some trapping advice to catch a pesky cockle-doo type rooster.

Nice fishes.

On our honeymoon we went out of Garza for a half-day and caught one of those 4' needlefish you mention. We also fought a sailfish for about 10 minutes before the hook pulled out. I'll be honest: I do not have the strength to fight a big sailfish to the boat. Ten minutes flat-out beat me.

Now that is very cruel. Delicious, but cruel.

Yeah sometimes we all have a mean streak in us sorry

The rod and reel combo I used was very light weight took me 25 minutes to get them in they would make 5 or 6 runs when you got them close to the boat and the last one we got hooked up spooled me but it is a good burn and a screaming reel is a sweet song

Beautiful fish! I would like to try offshore fishing in Costa Rica sometime. It's neat that you only have to go a couple miles out. Here in TX one must travel several miles out to hit blue water even at its closest. Sometimes 30 miles or more. Too expensive:(

Yeah we are in the same boat here in Delaware closest Tuna grounds are 43 Miles off Ocean City MD and the top of the Baltimore canyon is 82 Miles fuel gets expensive last time I went offshore was 2007 on the short run had a $600 fuel bill when we got back plus everything else and That was before fuel Doubled can't justify the cost I just fish inshore now. it is actually cheaper to drive to the Outter Banks North Carolina 5hr drive and go out from there. We fished for the Rooster Fish within a mile from the dock and a couple hundred yards off the beach they go a little farther for the Tuna, Marlin and Dolphin (call them Dorado on the pacific side) but not much.

Yes we had a Blast thanks w5pv

Looks like a great time. I've seen those in the magazines from time to time. Someday I'll have to travel down there so I can catch some if I can ever afford it. They look like fancied up jacks to me. I'm guessing they probably fight about like a jack crevalle.

I was there on a trip one of my Venders Sponsored I could not have afforded to stay at the Weston Resort out of pocket.
I have caught Jack crevalle down in the Keys I enjoyed the Rooster more they will break the surface and give you a little show but yeah they pull like a truck and will make 5 or 6 good runs and they are purdier I was using light spinning gear 20 to 30 minutes per fish did have one spool me ( The Big One That Got Away) want to get down to the Keys again still looking for a Tarpon never been there during the hot Tarpon bite always been there early
