What do you guys think of this bullet from a rifle on deer? I'm thinking 15 grains of H110 for about 1600 fps if it doesn't lead.

I'm using a 158gr SWC(plain base) in a 627 and getting just over 1300fps with no leading and is accurate. What you going to shoot it in a rifle or handgun? If in a rifle GC would be a good idea, in a handgun I've never used a GC. Granted 95% of all my shooting are paper/steel so my alloy doesn't need to perform in flesh.

No matter what you are shooting this in make sure it fits.

This is going into the hands of a 12 year old boy, bullet failure is not an option.

I think if the placement of the shot is where it`s supposed to be he best have a sharp knife to skin with !

H-110 will do it Lil` gun is still a mite slower & a scotch better in carbines , but if H-110 is what I had , I would`nt put loadin some off.

If the first shot accuracy is there why worry about leading in a hunting situation? It is not that hard to clean up. I would not want to go to a tournament with a combo that was prone to leading though.
