I have an older ideal single cavity mold. It is marked 358242 107 gr. On both sides of the mold it is marked 128.
I have cast some of them and they weigh out at 92.8 gr. I have sized them down to 356 and they shoot well in my bersa 380. It looks just like the lyman 356242. Is it a mold for 9mm or 357. 92 or 107 gr. seems light for anything in the 38 range.

The Ly 358242 came in two weights as you have found and mine drops at about .359 and 125 grains nominal. Several years ago, they changed the mold number to 356242 and no longer offer the larger diameter. It continues to be offered, as far as I know, in the two weights. Which seems to result from the mold cherrie being set to cut short with one lube groove and not two lube grooves. The advantage to the user is casting one bullet and then sizing for either the 9mm or the 38/357.

I use the heavier version a lot in 9mm and it shoots excellently. No feeding problems through 3 different guns and no leading.Casts very easily as it is a short bullet even in the longer design. My mold is a two cavity and it can produce quite a few bullets in a reasonable amount of time. I size to .358 and lube both grooves..it tolerates well a slight taper crimp. Does not cut clean holes in targets as it is a round nose. LLS
