OK. Here's 2, two part questions (sounds like the old Certs commercials).

1. What's the fasts you've ever pushed a cast boolit and what's the fastest you know of?

2. What's the slowest you've ever pushed a cast boolit and what's the slowest you know of?

Doesn't have to be documented, just be truthful.

I've hit over 3100 as the fastest. but NOT the most accurate! Other than a .177 pelletat ~400 fps 1 have shot .38's at less than 400 fps.

bullshop, I saw that with a friends 9mm and handloading with a Dillon progressive press. I got him a brass rod from work to remove it.

1] 2400fps chrono-ed and 4300fps... see above
2] 300fps that I measured and gotta confess stuck in barrel
I too have stuck more than one in the barrel... trying for some kinda squid that I gave up on. funny thing is... seems that they either stuck.. or achieved abt 300fps, probably too hard of alloy! MV
BTW Swaged can go slower... but not slower than stuck... LOL

Fastest cast bullet I pushed the 311359 to over 3105 fps (3 shot average) from my 12" twist .308, can't say much for the accuracy. I've also pushed a 225438 from a 22-250 at 3200+ (3 shot average, again accuracy sucked...actually non existiant as I never hit paper thought they did hit the berm).

Slowest bullet was 323471HP cast of pure lead at 205 gr(over the starting load of 1.3 gr Bullseye in 8x57. Was testing Paco's cat sneeze loads. Velocity was 235 fps for 4 shots. I couldn't elevate the military rear sight high enough to zero at 50 Yards with the yugo M48 Mauser. I could watch all 4 shots fly to target. Accuracy was quite good - 1 1/2". Increased the charge to 2.7 gr Bullseye for 538 fps, could zero rifle and again 1 1/2" groups.

Yes the 4300 fps was the saboted boolit. Well all he asked was for cast and it was cast.

Well lots of guys have pushed them faster than anything I've ever tried. However, I can claim to have tied Bullshop for the slowest as I've stuck a few screwing around with light loads, and I've sent squibs out the barrel to land at my feet.

One of the funniest things I ever saw at a bullseye match was at an indoor 50 foot match in Maine where you had to walk down range to change your targets between strings of fire. The guy next to me was shooting a .38 for large bore and as we walked around the end of the cold line he remarked that "they are all in the black" as he couldn't see any holes. He was pretty happy about it. When we got downrange there really weren't any holes in his target. He wasn't so happy any more. He looked for .38 holes in my target, (I was shooting .45s), and he looked at the target of the guy on his other side, again no extra holes. I walked back up range a bit and there were his bullets laying on the floor about half way down the range.
