I got the nose sizer die Friday.(thanks, Buckshot) loaded some 06 with ten grs unique for foulers. Per Larry Gibsons advice, loaded up a bunch with 4895 and dacron.
This ain't working so good, lots of horizontal spread. On shot #18, the front sight fell out of the dovetail. Ok, that's why the horizontal spread. Luckily, I found the sight in the pea gravel in front of the benc.
I have a wgrs that fits the receiver, but is too high. Looking through my stuff, I have a ridiculously high front sight that is really tight in the dovetail.. Hmmm, this might be ok. Screws are not the same as the holes. Nothing like preparation for a good day! Oh yeah, I forgot my chronograph.
I'm surprised I brought 30-06 ammo instead of .308!

Eh, it happens. I've completely forgotten ammo and muffs, so dont feel bad. I've lost sight pins and various parts along the way. Better shooting (and luck) next time.

it happens to the best of us..
I am a huge planner .. making list of what I need days in advance of a trip .. never fails either I still forget something or something breaks .. stuff happens .. still look at it as a day at the range and NOT a day at work :)

At least I brought another rifle. The contender in 6.5 tcu shot so so with some 125 gr cast, loaded years ago and lost the info, so no clue what load. 95 gr Hornady in front of 27 grs imr 4895, however... triangular hole for 5 shots. I should've stopped there, next group around 1.75" at 50 yards.

Just wait until you arrive at the range with your M1 Garand, ammo, and everything you need EXCEPT for en-bloc clips. Turns your 8-shot semi-auto rifle into a single shot!

What do you mean, "just wait"?

I found the scope base and rings for it. While I really like the way the 760 receiver feels in my hand for carry without the scope, I had a heck of a time seeing the sights. Guess its time to face reality and live with a scope.:(

Sounds like normal day to me, at least for me it's only a 10 mile trip to the range
and the scenery is nice.

Only 16 miles for me, but as*I basically live in a truck, I can only get to the range every two weeks or so.

I`ve only got about 250 yards back to the house from my range. I used to shoot from my deck, but it made my cats "jumpy".Robert
