...and all I have is a Lee 1 oz single slug mold! I just got interested in casting boolits and there is some much to learn! I picked up about 1,000 pound of pure lead from my buddies job that they didnt want to pay to dispose of, so I took it. Most of it is in 20-40 slabs. I bought a cast iron pot and been melting the **** out of it every since. Hours and hours poured into it, and I bet I've only cast about 200lb worth into ingots. I would like to get into casting buckshot as well. Thanks for having me!

Sell or trade some of it for wheel weights. Unless you can find some free tin and antimony to go with the lead. It'll work for the buckshot as is. What cartridges/calibers are you interested in casting boolits for?

I wouldn't sell any of that lead. If you get I to casting it won't last near as long as you think.

When people suggest you sell some are they looking out for you or for them?

I'm doing 12 ga slugs right now and wanna do .44 mag in the future. I wouldn't mind trading some of it off. When I ran a chemical analysis in our metallurgy lab, it did say it had a very small amount of antimony in it. In what %, Im not certain. I'll run another analysis on a different machine that tells me %.

Welcome to the board! Doing 12 ga slugs and contemplating .44 mags slugs, will cause that 1000 lbs to shrink real fast.
If you'd like, I can help you turn some of that lead into .44 boolits. I have moulds from an NEI 175g to an SSK 44-300PB with oodles in between. If interested, send me a PM.

Outstanding find! Is there a chance of getting more or was that all they had. Oh and welcome aboard, I believe there is a sub forum dedicated to shotgun casting and loading here.

Don't tell members of the Muzzleloading Forum that you have a large supply of pure lead, they may try to bribe you to send them some.

Sure is. I just ran out of room at my house. They got dozens of slabs ranging from 1800-2200 pounds. Don't know how on earth you can work that much lead into sizable chunks. Chainsaw, maybe?

Pavement breaker with a chisel tip? At least you wouldn't have to worry about sharpening or lead particles.

Not if he breaks it up into 3 or 4 days worth of shooting. :kidding:
