I was given a large coffee can full of Lead Round Nose Bullets, the person who gave them to me claims that they were made with a Lee 2 hole mold. The bullets weigh anywhere between 234.2gr to 239.6gr, I figure rounding up to 240grs would be the best overall weight to use for a reloading data. Can anyone give me some good powder charge amount numbers for using either Bullseye or IMR-700X or point me in the right direction? I plan on primarily reloading 45acp and some 45 Colt. I have everything I need to reload just not the charge amount numbers.

Thanks!

Have you tried Alliant's and Hodgdon's online reloading data? Have you looked in a reloading manual? Just asking the basic questions first.

Read both the Lee and Lyman Reloading books managed to come up with the numbers for 45 colt, its the 45acp numbers I'm primarily concerned about, I will check Hodgdon's. Thanks!

700-x is imr
bullseye is alliant [almost said herculese]
both will have super similar data though.
I'd just use 250 gr data for the 45 colt.
and lower 230 gr data by 5% for the 45 acp.

The Lee book should have told you -- if you can't find a load for your bullet weight go to the next higher weight bullet.

http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistol use the 250 grain data and work up from there if you need to

To everyone who replied to my beginner's question, Thanks! After a few phone calls it was discovered that the bullets were cast using a Lee TL-452-230-2R mold. The alloy mix is obviously on the heavy side as all bullets weigh in between 236 and 240grs. I ran them through my Lee .452 sizer die and relubed using LLA. I've got the load data for the 45 Colt, it's the 45acp load data I'm still searching for, the only 2 powders i can put my hands on at the moment are Bullseye and IMR-700X. Thanks.

it's normal for home made boolits to weigh a little more than the mold states.
just find an oal that works in your gun and base your start loads on how deep you have to seat them.
use normal 230 gr data [jacketed and lead is the same in the 45 acp] start low and try a few at a time until you have a working load then use e'm up.

4.5 grains of Bullseye should work just fine, load to an OAL of 1.27" taper crimp to get a good "plunk" in your barrel. and away you go. Lyman's 3rd Edition Cast bullet Handbook was the source for this data, their 452-374 being close enough to your Lee boolits to be useful.
35 years ago I was given said load data by an older shooting buddy, and I used it for years before I bought my own copy.

MD Smith's load data is a good place to start also if you don't have a handbook.
