Looking for suggestion on the 30/30 with Lee 150 gr cast GC bullets in Win 94 24" barrel. I have tried IMR 4895 and IMR 3031 in 20 to 23 gr charges and none seems to want to group. I also tried 2400 with worse results. I am not using any filler and would like to avoid that. Bullets are WW+2% Tin sized .310 seated just short of a forced closing of the Win 94 lever.

You just haven't taken the load far enough. Try 25 grains of 4895 and work up towards 26.5 and you should find the sweet spot. I have had great luck with this load in every 30-30 I have tried it in. i killed my first cast bullet deer using the Lee 150 and 25.5 grains of 4895. Also try sizing at .310 if your rifle will chamber them.

Try 27grs. RE7. My octagon bbl is not tapered, but shoots so well it's been banned from local "Cowboy Silohuette" competitions. That's w/in 10% of Alliant's max recommendations, so approach cautiously. Yep, I get rather short case life, but dang is it fun to hit the 500m gong repeatedly

I've got that Lee 150FN mold and I used 4227 for decent accuracy instead of #2400. But I also had good results with 4064 or 4320. I tried the 3031 and 4895 but can't remember hitting the right combination. Most of my Lee bullets were tumble lubed and gc'ed but I've bought a lubisizer since then. I'm going to get the RCBS 150FN mold, I think, but am not sure what it will weigh when lubed and gc'ed. My RCBS 180FN mold weighs a little over 190grns lubed and checked.

I am using IMR4227, 18gr, with the Lee 1602R gc, 1700fps, good accuracy, and the same bullet, water dropped at BHN 20, with 34 gr IMR 4064, 2180fps.
No leading and shoots fine in my '99, where I do not have to worry about the pointed nose.
