I had a good Christmas and took some time off with the family. In between family time, I finished my dream/retirement loading room, home away from home.

I took these photos because it will never look this way again!!!!!!!!!!
Finished the lighting and storage. Got most of the stuff put away.

This is why the bench looks good. Back closet storage.

Gussy--It looks really good. You no longer have the exposed beams to hang your deer from. One question? Are you really comfortable and at ease being underneath a pheasant with his tail pointed up in the air?

jhalcott---dead?? The goal of taxidermy is to look realistic. Maybe he could hook up some clear tubing and when he hits a control button it would dispense some hand soap or something. Be neat for some unsuspecting guest standing around.

Maybe I should move him to the bathroom for a soap dispenser??

Those birds were taxidermied (note, I did NOT say mounted, for obvious reasons) in the late 70's when I took a night class on taxidermy. Pheasants are the easiest birds to do, less than an hour. Also note that the tail feathers are still straight after almost 35 years!!! I would have thought gravity would have won by now

We'd never tell. Statute of limitations has run by now, anyway.

Gussy---I have pondered over your dilemma. Those birds you "mounted" were intended to be seen. In the bathroom as a soap dispenser many would not see them. Agreed as a soap dispenser the bathroom would be the proper place. Maybe instead of soap you could keep them at the bench as a liquid alox dispenser. The puddle underneath would enhance the realism. I have not tried your hardness tester, but it has gotten rave reviews here for years. You obviously have experience in hardness testing. Your "mounted" birds remain errect after 35 years. Did you use some secret ingredient that you experimented with? Are you perhaps the inventer of ******?

Well, if you need help, I rubbed the skins with Boraxo. I guess you could give it a try. Sure did make them hard and stiff.
