Does anyone have load data that will reliably cycle a 16 inch AR platform using this boolit? I'm not using a can and would prefer that it cycle without one. I would also prefer that I don't have to change anything on the rifle so that I can still shoot those nasty full-checked 150 grain things sold in stores.
Any help with this mold and load data would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have tried to sift through all the searches, but my Google-Fu is on a white belt level.

If you don't care about it being subsonic you should be able to easily get it to cycle. 1680, RL7, A5744, Lil gun all should work, maybe even 2400. If it were me I'd start at about 10 grains and work up from there and watch for pressure signs etc. You could probably use the data in the 9th Hornady manual for the 225gr jacketed bullets as well.

Every gun will be different. Barrel, gas length, gas port size, twist rate all affect pressure and cycling. My 12.5 pistol gas will cycle that boolit at 8.5 of H110 or 10.8 Reloader 7. You just have to try stuff out.

OK. No luck after doing quite a bit of testing today.
I went from 9.3 grains of Lil'Gun up to 9.9. None cycle the carbine length gas system and the 9.9 grains were going just over 1300fps.
Any suggestions for that Lee 230 grain mold would be very much appreciated.

If you have some reloader 7 you can try about 11.5 grains and work down. The 680 family of powders seems to be the sweet spot for subs. What is your gas port size, buffer weight, etc. is it a semi or full auto carrier? A lighter buffer may help as well as switching to a lighter semi auto carrier if yours is full auto. If that doesn't work you may need to open up your gas port. Last resort would be to switch to pistol gas

I started with data for a jacketed bullet in the Hornady manual and ended up running 10.5 gr. of W296 I am getting 950 to 1000 fps it is the best for accuracy and properly cycling the action.

dead on for advice
also make sure your rifle is well broken and lubed... IE no undue friction in action
I have seen several CMMG carbine length barrels come from the factory with around .80 gas port size ... too small to function subs fully usually need about .90 .. This is for CMMG Carbine barrels only
