I had little success either lube and GC or hi-tek in my AR platform. Results were very erratic. However I gave it one more try with my 22-250 on Tuesday and found the target with some pretty good results. Not great but pretty good, enough so I will keep adjusting and let you know. Loaded 55 grain with hi-tek lube and GC. I did the GC just because I had them. Used Hodgdon Superformance that I use with my copper bullets. It was on hand so I used it. Fired 5 rounds at 50 yds and 5 at 100 yds. Groups as follows:

16 gr 50 yds 1.75" 100 yds 1.75"
16.5 gr 50 yds 2.25" 100 yds 5.25"
17 gr 50 yds 2.25" 100 yds 2.25"
17.5 gr 50 yds 1.50" 100 yds 3.50"
18 gr 50 yds 2.25 100 yds 2.50"

I understand these results are not stellar by any means but I am encouraged by the on the paper grouping sizes. Downside to using Superformance is that at 17 grains I started having heavy carbon buildup in the chamber which caused some denting of the cases when that were fired. I don't have that experience with copper bullets but I am unsure if it is because of the lower powder loads or the projectile. Anyone with an answer to that it would be appreciated. I plan on using other powders such as 4895 and may even try CFE. If there are other recommendations on powder I would appreciate those as well.

PS younger eyes and steadier hands I feel would improve the performance. Almost all groups were about 5-6 inches below aim point. That can be adjusted on the scope if I can get consistent 1 inch group.

Larry, it sounds like your gaining on it. I think your powders are too slow try the faster shotgun type as recommended by Lyman. I have the same mold and have found pure linotype to be the best alloy as those little pills are tough to cast perfect. Frank C.
