Just picked up one of these molds today, and was wondering where someone could find some of the zinc washers that is used with this mold.or,could someone tell me the dimensions of the washers,so that I might do a little searching? Can anybody comment on how they made out shooting this booklet? Btw,,this bullet appears to be around 150 grains,,,thanks

Somebody was selling them online a year or two ago. Do some
searches at eBay and such.

I don't have the mold, nor do I particularly want one; but I wonder how a disk of copper flashing would work for the washer?

you could punch holes in some gas checks too.
you need the hole to cast through.

I've seen molds for the Harvey "protex" boolits a number of times, never felt the urge to buy one.

putting a washer in a hot mold just doesn't sound like fun nor does having to "juggle" possible issues with alloy temp while using it look like fun.

Add to this the fact that all four of the molds I've seen have been single cavity and making these one at a time just seems like a complete loss over what I can get out of a quality Lyman 4 banger with a standard lube groove.

Bottom line if this was such a good idea we'd still see these in production, nice to visit some old ideas to see why the did or did not work, provided you didn't spend a bunch of money to satisfiy your curisoity, LOL!

Flashing is WAY too thin. The washers are in the .040-.060 range of thickness from looking
at molds.

the lead will fill in the difference.
I have a 38 cal mold and washers for the 38/44/45 molds kicking about here.
I also have a swage tool for the 44/45's that take the washers.
they get pressed into place on a swaged core that has the nub to slide the washer over.
I think I'm gonna try the 38 mold washer less and do some slick sided boolits to try out some booolit coating with.
