Are these 38 SPL Target cases worth the trouble or should they go straight to the scrap bucket? There are some 45 Colt cases mixed in but they are balloon head.

NO!

Corrosion like that can cause pits that will weaken the case, if not make holes thru the case.

38's are about the cheapest, most available case out there.

NOT WORTH IT.

Sorry, but those are scrap.

That is SEVERE chemical corrosion that weakens the molecular structure and strength of the brass!!!! And not just on the surface.

Scrap it........if the yard will even take it! Most do not want severely corroded brass because what is left (what you have) is not ever considered recyclable brass.

Ever wonder what Brasso does to brass? You got it!

Good luck.

Salvage only the ones with no green corrosion. Citric acid bath will clean the others enough to sell as scrap.

I just got $1.30 per LB. for scrap cases and fired primers. 23 pounds of it netted me $29.80, went, spent it on 1K primers! I've got another batch to take there next week.

I wouldn't use ANY of that for reloading, not worth the risk.

It's off to the scrap dealer tomorrow. If he won't buy it as is, it's in the trash, all ten pounds of it..

I just stopped by the scrap dealer. He paid $1.30 a pound for ten pound of cartridge cases. He is paying $1.90 for clean yellow brass. I forgot to throw in the spent primers. I will take them next time. He didn't care that the brass was corroded.
