So last night I got a wild hair on my a$$ and bought a chop saw and a die to cut 223 brass to make it into 300 BLK I also bought dies and will have the money in a few days for the upper.

I'm now looking for a good mold to cast my own boolites for hunting I'm looking for something heavy and then a light round for P-dogs. Can anyone give me any advice? Are HP any good with rifle boolites and hunting? Thanks for the help and advice!

My new 308 absolutely loves that Lee 160 gr RNGC. Groups right around an inch at 100 yards with an MV at about 1850 fps. Strangely enough the powder it likes is 2400. I also have the Lyman 130 gr plain base but so far have not found a load to get under 2.5 inch groups at 100 but stay tuned. A flat nose 150 gr boolit should work just fine for hunting but that 160 gr RNGC with a softer alloy should do just fine as well in the right place.

NOE 311 247 will be the ticket for hunting and the 300 Blk.

I would recommend the 311316 for P dogs. :)

I have been looking at the NOE 247 gr is the HP worth it? If so do they have molds that allow you to do more then 1 HP at a time?

Either the big 247 fp. or my favorite, the 311041 usually used in the 30/30 but has the flat point to do the job on game and accurate in most any 30 cal.

i've loaded for a friends .300Blk and I found the Lee 200gr RNGC to be excellent. I used 11.5gr of H4198 but it was "supersonic" at about 1,150fps. Dropping to 10.0 got me about 1,040fps and subsonic. It was about 2moa from his M700 and would cycle the action on his Daniel Defense AR15.
I found that 5.0gr of Unique would do the same. But, wouldn't cycle the AR (didn't expect it to).

For hunting with a b/a, I recommend either the Lee 150grFNGC (mine casts to 158gr) or the 170gr FNGC (mine casts to 180gr). The 170gr also shot well from the b/a .300BLK and would be my "hunting" boolit.
Besides, you can't loose as the moulds are only about $20.

For p-dogs, the Lee 150gr PtGC (not TL), will work good. I shoot it through both the .30/06 and .30/30 with 24.0gr and 16.0gr of #2400 respectively. '06 runs 2,000fps and .30/30 runs ~1800fps. I single load the .30/30's in a M94 like it's a falling-block single-shot. Works wonderful...
