I went to a scrap yard for lead earlier today, but they were closed and I called to find out their hours from my cell phone. While I was replying to the post about babbit, the girl from the scrap yard called and wanted to know what I wanted. I asked the price on lead----25 cents a pound!!!--and they said they would bundle it up and call me when it was ready later today or tomorrow. 400 pounds!!!

I think I need to make a repeat order next week at that price! And I have about 50 pounds of babbit ingots out in the shed to alloy with! Life is good.

Sweet! My local scrap yard wants 60 cents a pound. At 25 cents a pound, I'd take all they have. Ask them what they pay for scrap lead. My local yard pays 4 cents a pound.

I paid 40 cents a pound from one of the local tire shops yesterday. The scrap yard pays that, but if you want some from them it's 60 cents.
