We were right in the middle of moving over 250 prisoners at noon today so I don't think that would have gone over well........

Ok, I must be running a little bit slow this morning. What's the significance of this event, and the date? I know when they did this in New York in January, it was on the 1st anniversary of their most recent oppressive gun legislation. What am I missing here?

To all 2nd amendment supporters! On April 19 2014 at 12:00 pm eastern standard time, we will fire one legal safe shot, to stand up for our rights. This is to make some noise and show the country that we not go quietly into the night.

**********Please only participate in a peaceful and lawful manner. We don't need to give the anti-gunners any ammo!*************

Why April 19, 1775 it all began with gun control.

The day prior, an unimpeachable source (believed to be British General Gage’s American-born wife) informed Dr. Joseph Warren that British troops would deploy for Concord the night of April 18, in order to seize Colonial military supplies believed to be stored there. This wasn’t the first time they had done so. In September of the previous year they had seized 250 barrels of gunpowder from the Massachusetts Provincial Powder House in Charlestown.

The route the British planned to take was not initially known. They might take boats from Boston to a shorter northern route, or they might take the land route, five miles longer. The increased distance meant a substantially longer trip for marching troops, who might carry up to 100 pounds of equipment.

That night, longboats from the British ships Boyne and Somerset began to take on British troops for their transfer to the staging area for the northern route. Billy Dawes was sent via the southern route to warn John Hancock and Sam Adams that the British were to march on Concord, the current location of these two notorious agitators.

Paul Revere conferred with other Sons of Liberty to have the pre-arranged signal displayed via lanterns in the steeple of the Old North Church, “one if by land, two if by sea.” Across the Charles River, posted watchers received and immediately began to spread the message. About 10 p.m., Revere and two others rowed past the HMS Somerset to Charlestown. There, his famous ride began.

“The Regulars are out. The British are coming!”

Jeez, you'd think a history major would remember that date. I completely spaced. I will do my utmost to walk into the front yard and loose a 1rd volley at noon in commemoration. mikey

There is no such time as "12pm".

There is 12:00 NOON and there is 12:00 MIDNIGHT.

11:59 PM turns to midnight at the top of the clock.

11:59 AM turns to noon at the top of the clock.

I do believe that the appointed time is 12:00 noon, Eastern time. Doing this in the middle of the night at 12:00 midnight might provoke some neighbors...

I'm in. I'll up the radius of "notice" a bit with a two pounder of tannerite. I can legally use it here, and do on occasion, so no worries about that.

FWIW- all the Appleseed shoots scheduled on April 19 are going to fire a shot simultaneously
in recognition of the date.

My wife and son are completing in a 3-gun match that starts at 11AM EST on April 19th. I will forward this to Paul (fellow who runs the match) and see if he can get all the competitors to shoot a round at Noon. I'll launch one in my backyard from my 458 WM.

Artful - thanks. I keep telling my student that the first battle of the Revolution was over gun control. Sometimes I wonder if the get it, but I fortunately teach in a very conservative, rural area. They're ALL down with making noise! One letter I read from the time period said it boiled down to "They meant to take our powder. We meant to make sure they didn't" And so the wheel turns again
