March 2014 Photo topic:
springtime at the range

Dang, I forgot and no one reminded me to start a March thread :(
I'm leaving this topic wide open to your interpretation.

Our club had a Steak fry tonight and the range looked like the snowpack was melted enough to hike through easily with just boots, So I will be out there this week getting to a couple postal shoots that are soon to expire...and will get a few photos. How about you ?

Feel free to comment in this Submission thread.
Have fun,
Jon

an old photo...yeah and it's not springtime.
The photo I post later in the week should be very similar...only with snow.

Yep, spring at the range.

Nice dry berms ripe for the picking.

Those peeps are great targets. The bunnies are easier to hit than a head on chick.

In the springtime in Nevada the range is where the ground squirrels are at. Myself on top of the Durango, 9.3x62Al in his Ford. Buckshot took the picture with his tower rig in the foreground.

Can't post a pic, too much rain to see the range here in west Washington.

Visited the range today, this is the view from about 20 yards in front of the 100 yard berm back to the club house.

while I stood and took the above photo, I looked down and seen this. After I picked it all up, several hundred "R+P" 45auto and several Hundred "Winchester" 223rem. Left there from the local PD's shoot in January...that's strange, they usually leave LC brass for me...the shortages must be effecting them also.

Our grass is a bit greener than yours. Or it could be the lighting in the picture that makes it look white :)

Boy I didn't think modern vehicles supported human weight anymore. Very interesting terrain, mine is a vast pile of snow with my driveway stones scattered throughout. :-(

I am 6' 4" and 250 lbs. Needless to say I can't dance a jig up there. I climb up very gingerly and distribute my weight. The old girl has got over 275K miles on her so if I make a scratch or small dent I am not going to cry too much. It's a tool.

I did have the wind blow the bench over while I was on the ground and take out the rear window one year. So I strap the bench down with a ratchet strap now. The extra height makes a huge difference spotting the little diggers at a distance. Some of the shots were in the 400+ yard range. Not a lot of hits, but fun nonetheless.
