I am specifically interested in your favorite loads using UNIQUE, BLUE DOT, and Alliant 2400 with the 325 gr NOE 454651 PB HP bullet in the 45 Colt.

These are the powders I have on hand. In my WW alloy, this bullet actually weights 330 gr. I use this in Ruger Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks, and Browning 1892 (Miroku, not antique) rifles. Of these 3 powders, I am most interested in using Blue Dot in this application.

See if you can find loads for 300MP, and AA1680. Slower powders that will ignite consistently at 21,000 psi. are what you need (though your guns will take higher pressures than this). Blue Dot with A 250 grain Lee SWC plain based boolit (probly max about 15.0 grains - did I say MAX?) gives about 1250 fps (chrono tested). Did not blow up the Arminius revolver that I developed the load in, was then adapted to a model 25-5 .45 Colt. A lot of powders were tested (to include 2400, 4227, Unique). Did not test H110/296 as it could be dangerous at the lower pressures.), BD gave the best velocity for pressure generated. Lil Gun. H110/296 are nowadays used in hot 45 Colt loads for top loads in guns such as yours.

My 45 Colt Blue Dot loads were 12 to 13 grains with a 250gr semi wadcutter. The blast and flash were fun but I wasn't getting the accuracy I was looking for so ended up switching to other powders. I'll try to remember to look in my load Manuel's when I get home and see if there is some data for Blue Dot with heavier slugs.

If you find an accurate load with Blue Dot I would like to know the data as I have plenty of it on hand that I am not using for anything else.

Unique and standard primers for velocities to 800 fps.
H110 or WW296 and magnum primers for velocities to 1100 fps. Some push it higher, that's enough for anything I will ever do with my redhawk or blackhawk.
