Guys,

My brother recently finished putting together his sporterized mosin nagant 91/30. Being the great big brother that I am...I told him I'll supply him with bullets, as long as he let's me shoot it!

Based on some quick research, it looks like the Lyman 314299 is a good place to start. I have yet slug his barrel, but plan on doing that this weekend.

For those of you who shoot cast bullets out of these rifles, which gas check seems to work the best? I see hornady makes both 30 and 32 caliber versions. I've read that most mosins have lands that are close to .310 or so.

Any help on this would be appreciated!

#314299 IS a good CB to start with, and you will have to slug your bore. As for the gas checks, I use the Hornady .30cal. ones for CB's up to .314" diameter. Btw, the ones Blammer sells are as good as the Hornady's and a bit less expensive as well.

Thanks Maven. I'd like to get more info on the "Blammer" checks. Does he make custom diameter ones, like say .366"?
