My Father's Dad passed away early this morning. He was almost 90, and has been suffering too long now from the tolls of cancer. Everyone knows he's in a better place, but my Grandmother isn't ready to accept it yet. Prayers for her and my family would be appreciated. I'll be loading up and taking the family up to Detroit in a couple days for the funeral.

Prayers sent. It must be really hard to lose someone you have loved and entwined your life with for so long.

I'm sorry for your loss. Lost my grandpa when I was 16. grandma followed 6 mo later. Now, my materal grandfather passed about 20 years ago. Grandma was not so eager to follow. She lasted another 14 yrs, raising veggies, canning, crocheting, and reading. I've come to the conclusion it's not the length, but the quality that counts. Funerals are hard on the survivors, then the healing begins. mm

Thanks fella's. It's definitely going to be hard, but we'll see him again when our day comes.

At the funeral of a 14 yr old boy in our community, this analogy was offered. "He passed from life to life, there was no passing into and out of death, not even a pause. Death is but a dot, a point in eternity. It has no length or space." "Jesus Christ conquered death for Whosoever will drink of the water of Life freely, let him follow me."

kidd - Sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. I hope you were able to enjoy him while growing up.
I lost my grandparents when I was, like 12 years old. On top of that, they didn't live nearby. Hope your Grandmother will be able to recover from her loss. God bless Grandparents.

My prayers are with you and your family in this time of grief. Be strong, trust in God.

+1 on that, opos, I'm in the same place. Never knew my paternal grandpa, he was killed in an accident before I was born. My maternal one was not much of an outdoorsman, a good man, though. My dad taught me and was a big outdoorsman. I now have 2 grandsons that I am teaching. Grandpa's can be special if they get involved. I'm lucky I became one at a young enough age.

I lost my grand father last fall. Cannot wait till we are together again. I grew up in the house on the north side of his and spent the next 25 years in the house on the south side so to say we were close is an understatement. Take time to spend with and comfort your grandmother.

So sorry for your loss. May the strength of knowing that he is with Jesus and he no longer suffers from those effects of that cancer be a help in your time of sorrow.
