Wasn't sure where to put this, so mods feel free to treat accordingly.

Appears to be a simple conversion that is doable.

Great idea! Now I can start to re-use all those GP11 cases that were going for scrap.

That immediately crossed my mind. But IIRC, the 7.62x54 Russian uses a .254” diameter primer, the Swiss G11 primer is 216” diameter.

But, here are the correct Berdan primers for the G11 cartridge.

KV-762N Large Rifle Berdan Primers (5000 Primers)

$209.00

Price is for a Case of Primers (5000 Primers per Case)

KV762N is the Nato (.217") size and correct Cup height for all .217" Berdan Pocket cases of "European Military Rifle" calibers (7.9mm, 7mm, 7.65mm, 8mm Steyr, Euro .30/06, Euro .303 Br., 7.62R Albania, Czech, etc. 7.5MAS, 7.5 Swiss, 6.5 Swede, 7.62 Nato.)

But to use them you have to leave the anvil in. While the conversion from berdan to boxer makes some sense, if you figure your time in to re-prime the berdan primers I cannot see much value. If the specific case is not available in anything but berdan, go for it. But in the case of the x54 or x55 there is so much inexpensive boxer brass out there I would not bother.

Reprime Berdan primers? Why reprime Berdan for the G11?

Me, will just buy the KV762N Berdan primers to load the G11 cartridges. Why? Because I have hundreds of the G11 cases, which is some of the finest brass ever made, bar none.

I have several thousand steel case 7.62x54r rounds, so for now, just clean, wash, rinse, rust proof some and set aside for just a well, ya never know.
