My name is robertjneff2000 and I found this place from other forums. An answer always came up "check out castboolits", so I finally did. I cast using a hot plate and any lead I can get my hands on. I cast 12 gauge slugs, 9mm, #4 buckshot, and .45 round ball, all Lee molds. After seeing a lot of your guy's setups, my hotplate with a measuring cup ladle seems to fit in well....lol I live near Dayton, Ohio and lead is hard to come by, well hard to come by free/cheap.. So I cast in about 20lb lots when material is available. I graduated with my mechanical engineering degree, did that for a few years, got laid off, went to work for the family warehousing business, which is what I was trying not to do...lol I'm married with 3 kids, which means my presses are semiautomatic, i put in a case and a kid cranks the handle. I'll see you on the boards.

Bob

With three kids shouldn't the press be full auto? I'm just jealous, my kids are grown up and the grandkids aren't old enough.

Welcome Bob , teach right, make them all wash after loading. My are 7 and they must wash three times , after touching any thing with Daddy's reloading items. No loading here for them yet. Should get them to the range this summer to watch and shoot just a little.

Safety first for the kiddos, third for me. Slow day today so I've been reading and reading. All the kids do is put primers in the seater or place bullets, I always do a final check of everything that comes off the press. I have a jr2 and a jr3 both mounted on an old candy machine base, light enough to be moved around easily, but enough leverage I can resize .308's with out tipping it over.

Welcome from Buckeye #2. I'm about 75miles north up near Lima. As you can see I've been haer wahile with a really low post count. Not the chatty type but I'm trying to fix that. As others said there is a boat load to read and study.

Welcome. You're building great memories for you and your kids. I'm sixty and things I remember doing with my Dad are the little things.
Best of luck to you.

Ah, Beautiful Downtown Fairborn! Been there a couple of times, @ WPAFB. Did a software installation there once, went into the Comm Center Monday AM & came out Wednesday about lunch. Them were the days...

And welcome to the forum - the more, the merrier.

Welcome to the madness! Yeah, your pot should fit right in. I'm still using a Coleman stove and some old kitchen pots. Burned off the aluminum heat spreader from one and the handle too.

Welcome to the site! Lots of characters here, lots of stories, and lots of info. I spend far too much time here. In fact, I'm gonna have to turn on the TV, and wrap some boolits. Good to have you with us! mikey 8-)

Welcome to the Forum! Be sure not to read the stickies, cause nobody does. I'm just over the border from you in the Western Maryland Peoples Republik. Lot's to read, that's for sure. Enjoy.

Welcome. If you visit the Swap and Sell section you will be able to upgrade your set up and find reasonably priced lead and casting alloys. +1 on reading stickies both the general stickies and the ones in each section you are interested in. Also down at the bottom of the page are links to other sites I recommend the CASTPICS and the Cast Bullet Notes from LASC.us.

Another engineer is always welcome.

Robert,

Another Buckeye and engineer (environmental) here. You might want to add a .459" mould and 45-70 rifle to your collection as Ohio DNR is going to let us hunt deer with straightwalled cartridges this fall.

My last large environmental project (2008-09) before I retired was on the north side of Dayton at a former GM parts plant. While staying at the Drury Inn, I found and fell in love with Hot Head Burritos! Hot Head now has franchises in the Toledo area and are once again taking my money.
