Have the 170 gr. Lee 6.5 GC, for use in my 29"bbl 6.5x55. Shoots fine, looks kinda like a fat needle, but am obviously driving it a bit over the so called magic 1600 fps, because I am getting more leading than I would like. Anybody out there have a load or two with some of the slower burning pdrs that stay within the nonleading bracket?
Thanks in advance to all who answer this thread.

Try 16.5 grains of XMP 5744 seated long. Will surely bring a smile to your face. I used a heck of a mess of lube that includes everything slippery, is awesome.

I think you may have a different problem, with size, or hardness. 1700 fps is usually around the limit, before accuracy starts to fail, not a leading problem. If you are hardening your bullets, don't. Swedes seem to like softer aircooled type boolits.

Anyone recommend a OAL for the cruise missle in a 96/38? I just need a starting point to save me some experimenting. I have gas checks coming (Gators) but can't wait to shoot. Anyone shot nekkid CMs(no GC)? I have a wide variety of powders, was thinking maybe Unique. Thanks

Thanks Wheeler, I'll try that first. Anyone shooting them plain base?
