The local gun shop has a Italian Carcano In 6.5 mm for sale for $79.00 It's in pretty nice shape except it does not have a rear site. It is tempting. I do not have any brass/boolits/dies/stripper clips....Now it's tempting. What do you all think?

Yes...Is that the Mannlicher action like the Steyr? I.e. they are not 'stripper clips' they are integral and drop out the bottom and you should not fire the rifle without them?

Clips are $5.40ea.+shipping, Ammo at $1-$2 ea! yikes! Dies@$31.00+ship. Mold@$? Rear site??????? I'll have more in getting set up to reload then the rifle is worth.

$79? Pull the trigger on that deal. You'll probably never get started any cheaper. Besides, 6.5mm is a very nice ally to run down. Cast bullet pressures won't hurt the action. The hunt for a rear sight will be a story in itself.
Did I mention that you asked a forum whose members are known enablers?

If they have two, buy both. From what I've heard from those who own them, they're lightweight, handy, and a b**** to cast for. Most of the bores appear to be oversized.

Basically, it needs the clip to shoot, the fixed rear sights are easy to find and the adjustable hard, they shoot high with those fixed sights, the bore is over sized(~.268"+), Hornady makes a proper sized jacketed bullet, brass is available, don't buy a sporter made from a cut down gain twist model, light and handy, fun to shoot. I wouldn't have walked out without it if it was just missing a sight.

That's not a bad price. Buy it and you could probably make money just bringing here and sticking it on Swapping and selling.
