Finally got to do some shooting yesterday morning. Wanted to try a couple of 300 grain X bullets in the Taylor. Shot one at a hundred yard target to check POI, seems ok. A steel car or small pickup rim was laying there with a couple of small holes............
The X bullet will go through the first side and bulge the backside with rim laying horizontal, but so will a RCBS 350 grain gas check bullet. And I can make those by the thousands.
Just an observation from the frozen snowy hills of Wyoming.

Hey Frank505 good to hear from you! My Taylor using the RCBS 416-350 H.P. modification boolet and acww will mess up my 1/2" cold roll plate at 200 yds on my range pretty bad. My J bullet load for my Taylor is a Barnes 350 gr., my current favorite cast bullet is an Accurate Molds #42-330C boolet that drops at 342 gr. using old WW`s with some tin. I tell people that using the Barnes 400 gr. solid I can shoot a Ford pickup in the back bumper at 100 yds. and pick up the bullet from in front of the front bumper and reload it again! :~) LOLRobert

Hah just make sure it isn't a rim on the vehicle you drove out there. Kinda like your mirror that suffered collateral damage during rabbit season. Oops

Be very careful about shooting at vehicle rims. A glancing hit on the inside of the bead lip can go around and then off in another direction, including your direction.

wasn't me shooting mirrors, messy bear. even got to shoot this afternoon a little. very pretty snow day, but no wind. Got my chores done by dinner time, ate a little. took the little 44 special vaquero. the remodeled grip frame shooting 250 Keiths at 1180 is a fierce load, but no pain in my little mitts. got a nice walkabout too. just a beautiful 15 degrees with no damn wind.
Hi Robert, still have some of those 350 Hp's loaded. all we have killed with them is one armadillo so far. this year will be different.................
