Time to cull the herd. Medical bills to pay. I will sell 5th Wheel and pickup. Grandsons get the 45 roller and a 1894
Marlin CBC 45 Colt. Don't need to have guns that people will steal from my wife. Usually keep 15 to 20 toys at a time.
So my last three will be a 1894 Winchester 30-30, 1897 Winchester short barrel 12 gauge, and the 1911.
How about you?

I really don't want to think about it...

The plan is to give or will them to my son. At some point, I may be left with only three, but how to decide which three???

Maybe I'll keep my S&W stainless 686 Silhouette Model until the bitter end...maybe my Springfield 1911A1 in .45ACP...I have an old German Luger that will probably be here til the day I die...

There are a lot of guns around here. My son shoots them all and has begun to think of them as his, anyway.

I am sure that on some sunny day (after I have passed away) he will be at the range shooting his dad's guns and a tear will be in his eye. He and I have spent many a day shooting together...I am sure it will be hard for him the first time he goes shooting after I have died.

Marlin 1894C, S&W 586, Walther PPS. I really want to keep my Savage 99G so that would be four. Truth be told, I don't get rid of firearms once I buy them.

I know my daughter gets the first one she learned to shoot at the range. Browning Buckmark 10 inch bull bbl, 2-7 scope age about 11. From a rest, would put 50 rounds through the size of a quarter at 25 yds. Not great, but pretty good for someone her age and size. Was my best fishing partner then too. Ran the boat and just loved being out there. She lives in PA now and I'm in Md. Wish she was closer.

This is the honest truth, I have never sold a firearm. Not one. I'm a black hole of firearm ownership. Hopefully, my kids will cherish them as much as I do.

I can't claim to be a black hole - but maybe a grey well?
I can't say I've never sold any, but I can claim that I've never made a sale (Of a gun!) that I regretted later.
I've long subscribed to Dean Grennell'a advice that when you glom onto a good gun you should hang onto it.
I've sold a few over the years - but only the ones that I seriously didn't like because of poor accuracy or poor function.
Barring unforseen events mine will go to my boys too - and I too hope they will cherish them.

I guess mine would be my first real rifle my dad gave me as a Christmas gift when I was old enough to hunt by myself, a lefty Sako in .25-06, my Ruger Security Six, and my lefty M28-76. Those would at least let me keep doing what I currently enjoy, but without the variety I like.

I have sold one. It was a S&W snub nose and I sold it to my uncle so he had a firearm he could carry. I'm about to sell a XD9 to a friend. A CZ 75 came into my life and I don't need two double stack 9s. I've never even shot the XD so I won't know what I'm missing.

I have given far more away than I ever thought about selling, That said I will for sure have the M99, my first rifle till I take my last breath, then my son who has been waiting for me to die to get it since he was big enough to hold it, gets it. lol I have several put back for son, grandson and sil, the rest the wife can do as she sees fit with them.

The first one I couldn't part with is a customized S&W 629 . The other 40 or so guns in my Locker are tied for second. I don't need to chose a third.

I'm 34. I don't buy firearms to sell them. I buy them because I want to shoot them. One would have to be a really terrible shooter for me to consider selling one. I have bought some and given them away is gifts. But they were purchased for the sole purpose of gifting them.

I might have to think about this. I bought a 35rem marlin when I was about 14.I wanted a 300 win mag barreled action interarms mkx so my dad bought it and traded for the marlin. Its still at the house. That would be one of the three.

I stopped selling or trading 15 years ago, once acquired it never leaves the herd. The whole shooting match will get divided between 3 kids, just wondering do I do the dividing or let them hash it out. The last three would probalby be a S&W Model 14, 1911A1 and a Remington 513S.

I'm ALMOST in the same boat. I bought a gun off a guy who needed some money once. I shot it once and didn't like it. The rest I spent time and effort studying before I bought them.

I DON'T WANT TO PICK ONLY THREE!!!!

iv'e thought about this pretty much all day.
and the three I'd keep are the Winchester[s] the ruger[s] and the dan Wesson[s]
the Remington 700 could easily go, it's just a consistent 1-1/2" rifle in 8 mauser anyway.
the browning is too picky about cartridge oal.
I don't shoot the 3200 any more, and the rest are just target rifles and milsurps, and colt clones, and .... jeez, now I'm tearing up a little.

Hmmmmm for me, i would have to keep the 44 wheelgun, prolly a mauser 308, and an old mossberg 395kt bold 12 ga with the c-lect choke, truely a working mans gun.... I plan on kicking in the deep woods of alaska, so the 44 should take care of personal defense against whatever wants to eat me, the 308 will have the ability to reach out and touch something, and the mossburg will be a meat a potato gun with slugs and shot....

Heck, thats easy.
#1: Sako AV custom built in 358 winchester by me. Pet named "Seite Leguas" Sold to me by Lovelife.
#2: Marlin 1895 guide gun
#3: A handgun. Probably a .44magnum. Still trying to find the right one.

Everything else is trying to get on the list, but honestly, as long as I have my lathe, torch and files, I can have anything I want. It just might take a while to get LOL!

Wow. This is anythig buy easy. I've never been a seller of guns. Nearly always a buyer. I'm 64 and if I just HAD to whittle it down to 3 - My S prefix model 57 would have to stay. My 1909 Arg sporter in .280 would have to stay. My old gunsmith friend built that one for me. And last, I would keep my Dan Wesson .357, an old one. But, I'm cheating and taking the S&W model 41 with, too. There's just no way I could not keep that one. Thinking back, just about a year ago, I was having to think about these things. I had lung cancer, surgery, cemo, and I'm fine. Got lucky.
The Lord was with me on that one. Still is. Mike

Probably the last three that you can still find ammo for, because the way the regulations are being signed, it's coming sooner than you think. Probably my S&W 629 44mag, my Win 12 shotgun, and my H&K 91, as I have the most ammo for those, and plenty to reload also. Without ammo, these things don't even make good boat anchors.

I would have to say my last three would be the ones I can't find:???: Heck, last night, I was rooting around and "discovered" an XP-100! I still have a Low Wall action that I was working on last year which has gone AWOL. Seriously, I couldn't even fathom functioning with that few, I would run out of work to do on them and go stir crazy.:veryconfu

A couple of years ago I acquired an AR15 as a SHTF gun.
I tested it, and adjusted the (A2) sights ... then laid in a supply of ammunition.
I don't shoot it for fun ... or any other reason ... and it will remain where it is until I have no further need of it.

I don't know which of my guns would be my 'last three', but that rifle will be my last 'one' after everything else is gone.

I have been thinking about this, and three just will not work for me. My old 300 savage, just is pretty much a part of me and isn't going anywhere. I can't imagine life without a 22 and a shotgun, and I'm not going to be without a 44, so that is at least four and I still NEED a larger rifle and at least a 22 pistol.

To make this work my youngest daughter doesn't shoot much, so I will take 2 out of her allotment and maybe steal one from my wife. lol

I've bought and sold several hundred over the years like most of the guys and gals here and a number I wish I had back like the pre 64 Model 70 300H&H or the unfired K38 Target Masterpiece or the Model 17 in the original blue box I picked up for a couple of hundred bucks from a guy that needed to fix his car or....but I don't think I'm that attached to any except 2.
A Win 38-55 Saddle Ring Carbine thats been in the family since new around 1900 or so and my Ruger Single Six. For some reason I've sold every gun I can imagine but just can't part with my Single Six.

I've known a number of WW2 and Korean vets who went through this thought process.

In common to all was a defensive handgun in. 38 Spl. or larger, a .30 cal. deer rifle, usually. 30-'06 and a 12-ga. shotgun of some type.

Not a bad basic battery if you had to cut down. For me would be my. 357 Ruger Blackhawk, Winchester Model 12 pump gun in 12-ga. and my Winchester Model 54 boltgun in. 30-'06. These are for hunting and recreation. At age 65 I don't figure I'd last long anymore in firefight, but back in 1968 I didn't ever figure that I'd live this long.

Lefever 12 ga B grade double that was given as a birthday gift, Star modelo super that goes with me everyday, and a beat up Winchester 94 in 30-30 that shoots better than it has a right to.
That said it would be very hard to part with my ar15s and 1911s or my custom mauser in 30-06.

Easy choice.

#1 my first rifle, a MarkX in 7x57. It's the right rifle for everything.

#2 my flintlock, a 58 cal build by our own Joe Weist. The accuracy is shocking, and if no one in my family takes to shooting I will be buried with it.

#3 my first rifle I made myself, my cz550 in 510 wells.

you can keep your pistols and the kids can shoot the shotguns. These never leave the safe. If I lost every other firearm I own, I would cry for the loss of the financial investment. If I lost any of these three, I would cry for the loss of the history and pedigree.

All my guns were lost when I tipped over the canoe. In theory, if I still had them, :) It would be my Mini 14, a Kmart 20 ga. double barrel, (it's a long story), and a toss up between an S&W Chief Special 45 and a real nice Remington R1.
