After I moved, I noticed that the Eva-Dry 500 High Capacity 6-8 oz. Mini-Dehumidifier (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Eva-Dry-500-High-Capacity-6-8-oz-Mini-Dehumidifier-E-500/202847325?N=5yc1vZc5bqZ91h) in my gun safe needs to be 'renewed' (plugged in to the wall to eliminate accumulated moisture) more frequently.

I just ordered some zeRust (http://www.zerustproducts.com/what-is-zerust/) vapor canisters to put in the safe, as an added layer of rust protection.

I don't keep much ammo in the safe - just my self defense ammo. Has anyone used a rust inhibitor vapor product in their gun safe, and were there any concerns about it reacting with ammunition? The last thing I want is to find out that I have inert SD ammo when I need it the most.

By the way, this stuff comes in many forms (impregnated paper & plastic bags, capsules, etc), and I've heard it has worked well preventing iron mold rust.

Thanks

Randy

Ive not used that product but a low wattage light bulb gives off enough heat to keep your safe dry. Not sure if this route is good for you but figured Id mention it. Takes the place of the golden rod. When the lite is out you know to replace it. My buddys golden rod went bad and he rusted up a large collection of pocket knives.
You might also find large desiccant pks work well and can be dried in the oven or hot sun to rejuvenate them as well. The paper I have like yours[ I cant recall the brand] I cut a square 2x2 or larger and keep a piece in each of my pistol cases like the way they came new. I store my casting molds the same way in a baggy with a piece inside it to prevent rust.
So far so good.
Good luck, Tampa sure is warm and humid.
