Ben sent me a few samples of 8mm boolits, they are the ones he had such good luck with. I asked for a sample and took em to the range. Here is the result:

What a beautiful day for shooting...

Now, I was doing all my shooting with my Yugo M48 at 50 yds. My control group was a 329-205 Lee sized to .328 and slung with 16 gr of 2400.

Bens boolits (he will verify) are an old Ideal 323471 I ran 5 with 16 gr of 2400 and another 5 with 29 gr of H-4198 with 1/2 gr of dacron.

Now to decipher the shooting:

Middle is the control lee boolits, to the right are the 232471 with 16 gr of dacron and bottom right is the 29 gr of H-4198.

Hey no fair, your backer boards are still poking outta the snow...mine went into hiding beneath 6 foot deep drifts.

If that happened here they'd declare a state of emergency.

So, no pics of Ben's boolits?

I have been anxious the see this after reading about this in earlier thread. I ordered NOE's 326471 which seems to be a copy of the Ideal 323471, and expect it to arrive shortly. I picked up a lb of IMR-4198 yesterday to use with it. Aren't H-4198 and IMR-4198 about the same? I've been planning on starting at 22 grains. Nice group!

You sure made Ben's choice of boolit look good. That was good shooting in the conditions you showed, especially with iron sights! Mr. Ben knows how to make lube and pick boolits does'nt he? Again that was good shooting 338.

Thanks guys! I plan on working up that load till the accuracy falls off. I went from having the rear sight set at 500 yds to dropping it to 200 yds, I really hope I can get the load regulated to the sights with decent accuracy

Is that a bullet hole at the far right between the lower and upper groups? If so, it is a pulled shot (called) or part of the 2400 group?

Good eye, it is part of the 2400 group, IDK what happened to it, it decided to hit left field for some reason.

Throw out the 4198 and stick with 2400!

You can't imagine how bad I want one of those Lyman/Ideal 323471 molds. My Persian LOVES that bullet.

I am working up a load that I can keep regulated to my irons, and offers some "whack" for hunting. That I shot at 50 with opens, I am going to try my 329-205 sized at .328 before I give up on the 31 gr load. I also will take the dacron out of that one and retry
