I think I have my Wifel talked into getting me a K31 for my birthday, I have the two older swiss rifles already. the one with the rear lugs and the one with the mid lugs. The K31 will round out the situation I think :-)

is anybody out there shooting the older rifles with cast ??

Well good, the rear lug one I have is box stock, the mid lug is sorta sporterised, I inherited them from my Dad.

The K11 is the best cast shooter of all the Swiss rifles. Try them with the RCBS 308-165-SIL and Unique.

I agree the K11 is great. Mine loves the Lee155 2R . Haven't had time to try any other boolits. Shoots well with 2400 and IMR 4227. Great fun! Mel

I've got a K11, and it shoots very well. I was just thinking tonight, about when I got it. I found it at a local gun show during the winter, and bought it from a friend. I had just worked up my first cast loads for it a month or so later, and had went up the mountain above my cabin to test it out. It was the rifle I was carrying when Anne Slute and her kidnapper drove within five feet of me, and I didn't have presence of mind to stop him. That will bother me for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I shoot a Lee 170 gr. bullet in mine, and it is very accurate. I've killed a couple deer with it.

Just got back from range where Scott and I finished shooting for Mil-Surp Postal shoot. When I loaded for my k-11 I made up 20 rds with 311440 plus my normal load . Load was 16gr IMR 4227. Had a couple of flyers but the rest of the rounds snuggled up quite nicely. This was 100yds and open sights. Once I get the scope back on will test again. Scott shot these. Better his 20 something eyes than 57 year old ones. 10 ring is 3 in. Mel

Starmetal isn't in this thread yet. You can use most of the 30-06 loading data for cast bullets, just work up to be safe.

My humble apologies...........452.1

The older rear lugged rifles..........I was curious what pressure they will work at safely.

I have quite a bit of 284 win brass, and most of a box of norma 7.5 swiss too.

Use 30-40 Krag data for the rear locking 89s. They need a bigger bullet also, try the 311335 or the 311284.
