I just got off the phone with the rep at Winchester, my 1886 carbine 45-70 was one of only 350 made for the Vegas shotshow for 2012.
It has a 20 inch barrel with a full mag, it was accurate with my reloads right out of the box with no sight adjustments.8-)
The 420 grain cast bullets zipped over the chronograph at 1640 fps, I can push them faster, but I'm very happy with the results so far.

That is a rare one, alright. I have a Browning 1886 SRC 45-70 which I am very pleased with. Your Winchester was probably built in the same factory from the same drawings, so it should be a very good little rifle. I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of yours, as I've never seen one.

I have dads old 1886 Winchester the barrel was bad in it and the had it relined about 40 years ago and re blued and he did the stock probable not much collector value but it shoots good and has kill numerous deer after the rebuild.
