looking at both, any thoughts on these,i know the 48 is a side cocker and has a lifetime warranty, the hw is only one year, also recoil with a scope concerns me the hw has locking holes in the action the rws does not to stop the scope from moving, going to target shoot and field shooting with these air guns. thanks

The RWS has holes in the dovetail base for ring stop pins.Do not rely on the rear screw as its not a stop but a plugged hole for a rear peep sight. The UTG "drooper mount" works great but its to tall for a good cheek weld IMHO.BKL rings are lower and have held on my 48 and 52 rifles. The RWS is bulky/heavy in the field.i have never owned a HW50 but it seems trimmer.

I like my RWS 48 very much. When all is going well it can shoot 1/2" at 50 yards. Its a .177 and if I had to do it again it would be in 22 caliber. The RWS 34 is really hard to beat IMHO in 22 or .177.Like the guy above said the 48 is heavy.

both are great choices. I favor the 177 because I don't hunt with mine and it is cheaper and shoots flatter

do both these rifle have the barrels that droop, I know the 48 has a fixed barrel,i have a 56mm obj on my scope so would I need to have a high scope mount for that
